Article Marketing ~ how to on article marketing

Article Marketer DuckArticle Marketing

I’m sitting in the hospital room with my wife (see Rant on Jobs post) — my mind is pretty much the same consistency as my primary food staple for the last ten days, Chocolate pudding (I’ve been raiding the hospital frig).

I need to be writing articles… submitting my blogs to the social bookmarking sites… and working on my new blog, Midnight Blogger — but I can’t….

I had planned on writing a post today on Article Marketing… so here it is — and chances are, it is better than what I would have written on my own.

That’s it for this post on Article Marketing… and I want to thank Jack Humphrey of Social Power Linking for creating Utlity Poster — or this post would not have been written.

Utility Poster ~ Blogging Just Got Easy

Utility Poster... I love tools.

This tool will help whenever I get writers block or just cannot think of anything to write about.

Check it out -- Jack did a video of Utility Poster below... pretty cool.

Utility Poster ~ and a Blogging Made Easy Video

Utility Poster looks to be one of those “gotta have it” tools.
I say looks to be as it is not yet released — at the time of writing this post.
Utilty Poster

Why is it a must have tool?

Because it does something I have told people I coach to do — but it does it semi-automatically.

At times we all have writers block — brain lock, or something where we cannot think of anything to write about on our blog.

This post is an example of just that.

Jack Humphrey (of social power linking fame) just wrote a post on his blog about his new tool, Utility Poster — I am writing about what he wrote.

Instead of me telling you about it… just watch the Utility Poster video below.

Jobs - Jobs they are everywhere?

Jobs are out there to be found.

It kind of reminds me of the construction industry, farming and basic general labor -- Americans I guess no longer want to do this type of work.

Maybe I'm wrong... I really don't know.

One thing I do know -- there is a lot of non U.S. citizens working at hospitals these days.

Maybe it has been this way a long time and I've simply not noticed -- or paid attention.

Rant on Jobs ~ non Marketing

Where are the Jobs

Last Wednesday my wife was having some pain in her lower abdomen… wrenching pain that brought her to her knees.

The short of it… we called the Doctor… went to her office — she did a CT scan on my wife… gave my wife a few prescriptions, and sent her home.

her iv machine

On the drive home the Doc called… said the CT scan was in and it’s not good… told us to head to the emergency room as my wifes appendix had ruptured — OOPs!, no diverticulitis.

Her Doctor is from India… my wifes Nurse last night was from the Ivory Coast (Africa)… and her Tech this morning was from South America somewhere — I could not understand her very well.

I hope someone does not ask me something like, “doe she want to donate a kidney while she is here“.

I think she also told me there was special programs in some countries set up where non U.S. residents train to specifically work in the U.S.

Time to get back to my wife before she donates a kidney (and this hospital computer blows).

Adsense is Dead ~ You must be kidding me

Tim Carter has been using Adsense on his site since April 2004, and he is raking it in.

Not unusual for him to make $1200 to $1400 daily.

Unlike the "Made for Adsense" sites, Tim has real content that people want.

Ask an Expert: Online profits aren't just for the Amazons, etc.

The book profiled the site and its owner, the builder, Tim Carter. Tim is a nationally syndicated columnist and his website is a font of home improvement columns, videos, tips and help.

But first, let's get an idea of just what online success might mean for a small business:

How successful was this strategy?

"In April 2004, Carter learned about AdSense for content sites. He recognized that it would enable him to reach thousands of advertisers and screen ad quality with minimal time and effort. Carter immediately experienced a jump in advertising revenue of 400%. His monthly advertising revenues, including AdSense, grew from $1,500 to $7,500."

2. Become an SEO expert: Carter does no marketing of his site, other than creating the best, most useful articles and video he can and then making every article as search engine optimizable as possible.

Popularity Contest Plugin Fatal Error

Popularity Contest Plugin Fatal Error

As I was ungrading to Wordpress 2.5, I was having some major issues with my page not loading... here is a little info on fixing that problem.

Popularity Contest Plugin Issues~ Wordpress 2.5

Something was going on that would not allow my front page to load. This has happened in the past, so I was somewhat sure it had something to do with a plugin.

I went through all my plugins — made sure they were all up to date — one cool new feature in Wordpress 2.5 is the auto plugin update. You can automatically update the plugin from the plugin page — no more downloading — FTP’ing, etc (so I thought).

To make a long story short… I found the problem on Blogvaria.

plugin-issue1.gif

Be sure you manually edit the line in the code… do not copy and paste (that is why I did an image instead of the actual code). It is a simple fix… and one I cannot believe Alex has not fixed. He is a big time Blog guy… maybe he is busy or out of town or something.

Short little Popularity Contest Plugin video on how to make the changes to fix the problem;

Current Customer Marketing

Good article on how to market to and keep your current customers.

We do a lot to drive customers to our web site and place of business... but do we do enough to keep them coming back.

Most do not.

Good tips on how to keep your customer coming back and you are out there waiting to serve them.

How To Lose Your Current Customers, or not!

There’s a fine line between fishing and standing on the bank and looking like an idiot” -Steven Wright

It’s a given that every Business must have a marketing strategy in place to generate new customers (advertising, direct mail, yellow pages, internet presence, email campaigns, social marketing, etc).

But what about our existing Customers?

Do you have a marketing strategy in place to keep the Customers you already have?… or do you just assume that;

Why do we lose Customers?

What are a few of the reasons you have lost Customers to the Competition?

  • Prices not competitive?

  • You give bad service?

  • Employees ran them off?

  • They think you are a scammer?

  • Maybe your location?

  • Or, I never gave it much thought – do not want to know why.
  • Let’s be honest… doing business with most of us is not like the Customer went to DisneyWorld. With all the advertising noise in the world – how can we expect them to remember us? We can’t – so we need to help them.

RSS Feeds How To ~ RSS and SEO

This article was written in 2005 -- but it is some great info. Something I never thought of is how we use feedburner and feedblitz to syndicate our feeds -- this means they basically own your feed.

Think about it... all of the sites that syndicate your feed goes through one of these two services.

This is something I'll have to think about changing.

RSS and SEO: Implications for Search Marketers

A lot of people mistakenly lump blogs and RSS together, but RSS has infinitely more applications beyond just blogs!

There are some important tracking and measurement issues to consider when implementing RSS:

Some more "gotchas" if you don't set things up right:

  • You should own your feed URL (unless you want to be forever tied to Feedburner or whatever RSS hosting service you are using). Remember the days long ago when people put their earthlink.net email addresses on their business cards? Don't repeat that mistake with RSS feeds.
  • RSS is great for link building. Any SEO worth his/her salt should be making use of RSS as part of a link building strategy, or at least making plans to use it soon. In addition to RSS, there are some other effective blog-related link building strategies, like:

  • Getting onto bloggers' "blogrolls" (the list of their favorite blogs that they post on their site for all to see)

Great Advice on how to stay motivated blogging

Ricky John gives some really good tips and ways to stay motivated writing and working your blog... it can be hard sometimes to stay motivated -- I think his tips are dead on target.

Tips To Stay Motivated In Blogging

Motivation is such a powerful ingredient of successful blogging. A blogger who lacks motivation lacks creativity and persistence. A motivated blogger on the other hand, tends to be more creative, innovative and persistent.

According to studies, one of the major reasons why bloggers fail is because of losing interest quickly and giving up at an early stage in their blogging. Failures could have been avoided if they were properly motivated. The question now is, how do you keep yourself motivated to blog?

You can even get a lesson or two about marketing, if you keep your eyes peeled.

Here is the marketing lesson… this picture was taken on 15th Street in Plano, east of 75 a bit.

    Micro Niche Finder ~ Review

    Snap6.gifMicro Niche Finder

    Snap6.gif

This is one tool every serious blogger needs to have in their toolbox.

I don’t give many product reviews on this blog… I do have affiliate links scattered around — over on the right hand side, a few 125 x 125 images that promote what I feel are pretty good products. Some I’ve used — some I have not.

Above the 125’s there is an image promoting Entrecard — a good way to drive some extra traffic to your site. Jack Humphrey has a new "Special Report" at Social Power Linking on using Entrecard — the "ins and outs" if you will on how to maximize your traffic using Entrecard.

While doing my "due diligence"… I asked a few Bloggers to share with me (an unofficial survey of sorts), what was the number one problem or top challenge they had with blogging.

Micro Niche Finder is not a blogging tool.

    iphone-stat.png

So what does all this have to do with the #1 blogging challenge I was talking about?

    Everything — stay with me.
